In Detail | Our Spearfishing Charter in May 2025
Our May 2025 spearfishing charter trip heads straight out deep into the remote parts of the Great Barrier Reef on the day of departure, steaming overnight for you to wake up to the crystal clear water overflowing with life.
The Great Barrier Reef holds all the best tasting and elusive species every spearo has on there bucket list to spear. from dogtooth tuna and wahoo to the humble coral trout and red emperor.
The elusive species such as Maori Sea Perch, Buffalo Emperor, Yellow Lip Emperor and Mu.
All you’ve got to do is suit up, hunt, and chill out – we will take care of the rest. Our on board deckhands will even fillet, vacuum bag and freeze all your fish, giving you the chance to get the most out of your holiday, crack a cold one and enjoy your time with your mates.
Our vessel is licensed for a maximum 10 guests and 2 deck hands plus Skipper and in-water Guide.
The deckhands drive the tenders so there is no need to take turns as boaty. You are able to dive every session that you want while we are out there.
You will also have myself as an in-water guide with you during the whole week of your spearfishing charter. I will show you the best spots and do all the hard work like burleying and flashing for you. I’m here to make your trip unforgettable, answer questions in regards to hunting techniques or anything else you would like to know or learn while we are out there.
You are also welcome to bring fishing gear if you would like to do some fishing of night time or even if you want to sit out a dive session you can jump on the tender with the deck hand and do some fishing while the rest are diving.
We follow QLD rec fishing guide lines on our charters.
The only thing left to do for you is to aim and pull the trigger on the fish – how good’s that!
The steam back starts during lunch on day 8 after a final morning session. We are usually back at the marina by 6pm to disembark the vessel by 9am the following day after boxing up your catch.
Gyotaku Prints:
Eternalise your trophy catch with a custom Gyotaku art piece by Scott from @inkyfins. All our catch is stored frozen, which is perfect for the print to turn out nicely. Also, the ink being used is edible so if you are based around Cairns you’ll be able to cook up your fish for dinner once the art process is done.
